obspy.io.quakeml.core._read_quakeml

_read_quakeml(filename)[source]

Reads a QuakeML file and returns an ObsPy Catalog object.

Warning

This function should NOT be called directly, it registers via the ObsPy read_events() function, call this instead.

Parameters:: filename (str) – QuakeML file to be read.
Return type:: Catalog
Returns:: An ObsPy Catalog object.

Example

>>> from obspy.core.event import read_events
>>> cat = read_events('/path/to/iris_events.xml')
>>> print(cat)
